RESEARCH

University of Pennsylvania, PA

Postdoctoral researcher, Laboratory of Prof. Dennis E. Discher (February, 2017 – Present)

Project focus:

  • Beating strains in embryonic chick hearts, small-molecule inhibitor/drug perturbation(s),  extracellular matrix (ECM) protein and gene expression
  • ECM mechanical strains and enzymatic degradation of collagen in mature mouse tissues such as  tendon, heart, skeletal muscle, etc.
  • Development of novel mechano-bioreactors suitable for label-free optical imaging of mechanically deformed tissue samples
  • Characterization of collagen and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) molecular interactions

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar, India

Graduate student, Laboratory of Prof. Navin Kumar (July 2010 – June 2015)

Project focus:

  • Developed molecular model to characterize elastic behavior of collagen protein (individual molecules and their assemblies) at small length scales
  • Performed nanoscale characterization of elastic behavior (static and dynamic) of organic matrix of demineralized bone via nanoindentation using ultra sharp tip
  • Developed protocols for obtaining high surface finish bone samples suitable for nanoscale characterization via instrumented nanoindentation method and atomic force microscope (AFM)
